Sustainably harvested sisal and sweetgrass have been hand woven together in a tan with maroon diamonds pattern basket.
Basket weaving has been handed down from mother to daughter for generations in Rwanda. In addition to the traditional uses for baskets, they have also taken on the role of peace making and reconciliation. After the 1994 genocide, this project was created to bring together the various tribes so that by working together they could care for their families. Today these beautiful baskets also form symbols of hope for a brighter and peaceful future.
