October 10th is dedicated to World Mental Health Day. Today is a day for global education, awareness, and advocacy against the social stigmas of mental health disorders. Mental health covers a wide range of issues including psychological, neurological, depression and substance use disorders to just name a few. Today, Global Handmade Hope would like to recognize the Douglas Center for their work in this field.

The Douglas Center is located in Skokie, IL and is a non-profit that provides day programs for individuals with intellectual, developmental, physical and mental disorders. Global Handmade Hope has had the pleasure of working with the Douglas Center over many years, and each of interactions has been professional, pleasant and rewarding.

The Douglas Center offers work programs providing employment opportunities that include manufacturing, commercial / industrial sewing, packaging, assembly, shrink wrapping, labeling, heat sealing, and fulfillment services. So if you are in need of any of these types of serves we highly recommend you reach out to them The Douglas Center.

We also wanted to take a moment to recognize Jacaranda  located in Kenya.  Jacaranda provides employment to mentally and physically disabled individuals.  We are proud to carry their fair trade jewelry line.  We have attached a few pictures from one our visits to their facility, enjoy!
