For the second year the members of Chicago Fair Trade, which I am thrilled to be a part of, have organized a Holiday Pop Up Shop. It's a special place filled with beautiful hand made, fair trade gifts from all around the world.
This year we have 24 vendors for you to shop. Items range from Palestinian Olive Oil, clothes made in Guatemala that fit American Girl Dolls, sterling silver jewelry from Bali, handbags from Cambodia, winter wear from Bolivia, baskets from Africa, ornaments from Colombia, nativities from Peru, scarves from Ecuador, clothing from India and the list goes on and on. So whether your shopping for gifts for kids, parents, friends, significant others or office parties, I bet you can find a gift at the shop.
This year we are offering all sorts of events to make your shopping experience fun. Here's list of just a few:
Dec 1st from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm is our #FairTuesday Happy Hour
#FairTuesday is a worldwide ethical shopping movement in response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The goal of #FairTuesday is to inspire conscious consumerism and show how an everyday purchase can change lives in a whole community.
- December 9 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 is our Olive Oil and Mediterranean Tappas Tasting. Join us to sample olive oil and Mediterranean spreads from Canaan Fair Trade. We’ll be featuring olive oil from Palestinian olive trees, olive trees, olive tapenade, sun dried tomato/caper spread, and maftoul tabbouleh salad, and will be serving wine, as always!
- Dec 13th from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm is our Guided Meditation and Tea Sampling. Join us for a guided meditation with Kathmandu Yogi on Sunday, December 13, at the Chicago Fair Trade Holiday Pop-up Shop. Following a brief meditation, all participants will have a chance to sample fair trade teas with locally-produced honey.
We hope you will stop by and do some fun holiday shopping for Gifts that Give Back :-)
