The statement that “women’s rights are human rights” is a core belief in the United States thanks to the work of many groups. One of the groups that works’ for women’s rights in the US is the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The ACLU describes their work as “securing gender equality and ensuring that all women and girls are able to lead lives of dignity, free from violence and discrimination, including discrimination based on gender stereotypes.” In my opinion that is a beautiful statement and core belief. It is a value that I wish were as widely supported around the world as it is in America.

Through my travels I have seen first hand how girls / women are not valued or given the same opportunities as men in many other cultures. This discrimination is one of the reasons I formed Global Handmade Hope – Glory Projects. The majority of the artisan groups that we work with are comprised of women. This composition is not by accident but by focus. It is our way of promoting social equality for women, showing that women are valuable and do have human rights.

Thanks to connections that God has helped me form, I have been fortunate to meet and work with like-minded individuals and organizations. Today I would like to bring focus to one of our partners. This patner is Invisible Girl Project (IGP). IGP works in India to combat gendercide, which is the systematic killing of women and girls. 50 million women and girls are missing in India due to gendercide. IGP performs wonderful work and I am happy to help support their cause to show that women have value. I urge you to visit their web page to learn more about their work. Invisible Girl Project’s link will be posted at the bottom of our article along with some other great sites.
